沖縄では9月にもさまざまなイベントが開催されます。
その代表とも言えるのが、沖縄全島エイサーまつりですが、これについては以前のブログ（沖縄の夏といえば…）でも説明したので、今回は別のイベントについてお話ししましょう。
今回紹介するのは、在沖米軍によって開催されるイベントです。
まずは、キャンプ・キンザー・フェスティバルです。
これは、沖縄県北谷町にあるキャンプ・キンザーで2025年 9月6日（土）、7日（日）の午後1時～午後9時に開催されます。
このイベントでは、以下のような出し物を楽しむことができます。
・ライブ演奏
・ゲーム
・アトラクション
・アメリカンフード
このイベント会場に日本人が入場するには、運転免許証のような写真付きの身分証明証が必要で、18歳未満の人は保護者の同伴が必要です。
さらに、他の米軍基地でも次のようなイベントが開催されます。
キャンプ・フォスター（北谷町）、キャンプ・コートニー（うるま市）
9/6～9/7、9/13～14、9/20～9/21、9/27～28
フリーマーケット、家具・雑貨など掘り出し市（写真付き身分証明書必要）
これらのイベントは毎年必ず開催され、フリーマーケットでは大勢の来客で賑わっています。
まるで、一年中開催されているかのように思えてしまうほどです。
それら以外の米軍基地でも（時期は外れますが）、キャンプ・ハンセン（金武町）でイベントが開催されることで有名です。
このイベントも日本人が入場するには身分証明証が必要で18歳未満の人は保護者の同伴が必要で、他の基地と同じく、以下の出し物が楽しめます。
・ゲーム
・アトラクション
・バンドによるライブ演奏
・アメリカンフード
このイベントに行ったことがある人がいますが、その人いわく「基地の兵士の家族が作ったバナナケーキが美味しかった」とのことです。
（他の出し物は見てなかったんか～い！とツッコミが入りそうですね……笑）
このように、沖縄では他の都道府県とはやはりひと味違うイベントが開催されます。
沖縄を訪れる機会があれば、9月初頭もいいタイミングではないでしょうか？

Hello from Chatan Office!
Okinawa has a bunch of different events going on, even in September. A good example is the Okinawa Zento Eisa Matsuri, but since that’s already been covered in a past post, let’s talk about something different today: the festivals that are held on the U.S. military bases here.
First up is the “Camp Kinzer Festival.”
It’s happening on Saturday, September 6th and Sunday, September 7th, from 1 PM to 9 PM at Camp Kinzer in Chatan Town. You can expect all kinds of fun stuff there, including live music, games, rides, and of course, some delicious American food.
A quick heads-up: If you’re a Japanese national, you’ll need to show a photo ID like a driver’s license to get in. Also, anyone under 18 must be with a parent or guardian.
Besides the Kinzer Festival, there are other awesome events to check out. The bases hold these festivals every single year, and the flea markets in particular are so popular that they feel like they’re happening all year long.
In addition, you’ll find other events at different U.S. military bases as well.
For example, Camp Foster in Chatan town and Camp Courtney in Uruma city hold flea markets and bargain sales for furniture and other cool stuff on multiple weekends throughout September (the 6th-7th, 13th-14th, 20th-21st, and 27th-28th).
These events happen every single year, and the flea markets are always packed with so many people it feels like they’re going on all year long!
Other military bases also host events, though they’re at different times of the year. For example, Camp Hansen in Kin Town is famous for its festivals.
Just like the other bases, you’ll need a photo ID to get in, and anyone under 18 must be with a parent or guardian. Once inside, you can enjoy all the usual fun, like games, rides, live bands, and American food.
A man who went to one of these events said, “The banana cake made by the soldiers’ families on the base was the best!”
(Wait… you only noticed the banana cake?! Seriously, what about all the other events?!)
So, as you can see, Okinawa hosts some events that are a little different from what you’d find in other prefectures. If you ever get the chance to visit, you should definitely consider coming in early September! The ocean is still perfect for swimming then, too!
