天皇誕生日の振替休日を含めた連休、いかが過ごされましたか？
今日からまた新しい一週間が始まりましたが、カレンダーをめくれば2月ももう最終コーナー。
つい先日まで、冷え込む街角で「どれにしようか」とチョコレートを選んでいたバレンタインデーが、どこか遠い出来事のように感じられるから不思議ですね。
今年のバレンタイン、皆さんは大切な人に何を贈りましたか？
定番のスイーツも素敵ですが、最近では自分を労わる「ご褒美チョコ」や、感謝を伝えるギフトの形も多様化していますよね。
形ある贈り物はもちろんですが、「いつもありがとう」という言葉を添えるだけでも、この時期の冷たい空気がふわりと温まるような気がしています。
皆さんの手元には、どんな温かい思い出が残ったでしょうか。
（実は男性にとって、「義理チョコ」というのは悲しい思い出になることも……苦笑）
さて、沖縄では、本土より一足も二足も早く、鮮やかな「春」がその姿を現しています。
2月の沖縄といえば、実は「旧正月（ソーグヮチ）」のシーズンと重なることも多い、独特な活気に満ちる時期。
2026年の旧正月は2月中旬だったこともあり、島内にはまだお祝いの余韻が心地よく漂っています。
伝統的な家々から聞こえてくる三線の音色や、親戚が集まる賑やかな雰囲気。
そうした「古き良き沖縄」の空気と、新生活に向けた春のエネルギーが混ざり合う、一年でも特別なタイミングなんです。
本土ではまだ厚手のコートが手放せない日が続いているかと思いますが、こちらの風はもうかなり柔らか。
見上げれば、緋寒桜（ヒカンザクラ）の濃いピンク色が、吸い込まれるような青空に美しく映えています。
この鮮やかな色彩を見ると、「あぁ、新しい季節が始まったな」と背筋が伸びる思いがします。
皆さんの周りでは、どんな「春の兆し」が見つかりましたか？
忙しい日々の中、ふと足を止めて、季節が移ろう音に耳を澄ませる。
そんな心の余裕を大切に、今週も一歩ずつ進んでいきましょう。

Hello from the Chatan office!
How was your long weekend? With the Emperor’s Birthday holiday now behind us, a new week has officially begun.
Glancing at the calendar, it’s hard to believe February is already heading into its final stretch.
It feels funny how Valentine’s Day—when everyone was busy picking out chocolates on those chilly street corners—already seems like a distant memory.
What did you give to your special someone this year?
While classic sweets are always a delight, gift-giving has become so diverse lately, from “treat-yourself” chocolates to creative ways of saying thanks.
Of course, a physical gift is wonderful, but even just adding the words “I appreciate you” can make the cold February air feel a little warmer.
I wonder what kind of heartfelt memories you made this season?
(On a side note, for many men, receiving “obligation chocolates” or giri-choco can sometimes be a bit of a bittersweet—or even “sad”—memory… haha!)
Moving on to brighter news—here in Okinawa, a vibrant “Spring” has already made its appearance, arriving much earlier than on the mainland.
February in Okinawa is a unique time, as it often coincides with the Lunar New Year, known locally as Soogwachi. Since the 2026 Lunar New Year fell in mid-February, a pleasant festive afterglow still lingers across the islands.
It’s a special time of year where the atmosphere of “old-world Okinawa”—the faint sound of the sanshin echoing from traditional homes and the lively energy of family gatherings—blends seamlessly with the fresh anticipation of the new season.
While heavy coats are likely still a must on the mainland, the breeze here has turned remarkably soft. Looking up, the deep magenta of the Hikan-zakura (bell-flowered cherry trees) stands out beautifully against the piercing blue sky. Seeing these vivid colors really makes you want to stand a little taller and embrace the start of this new chapter.
What signs of spring have you discovered around you?
In the midst of our busy lives, it’s important to find the mental space to pause and listen to the changing seasons.
Let’s take this week one step at a time, cherishing those small shifts in the world.
